Blind Spot Assist
Hey all,
I own a 2011 E550 and I was wondering if there is a way to permanently disable BSA (Blind Spot Assist) so that it doesn't light up on my mirrors OR notify me on the instrument cluster?
I took out the radar sensors and I was completely baffled and heres why.
I live in Canada and we get a little bit of snow and salt here and here is what they look like

Mine failed and its easy to turn off. You want to get into your car and turn your key to accessory (all your warning lights on your cluster will be lit) don't start the engine. From there, go into your settings and turn off blind spot assist.

I have done that, I turned off lane assist and blind spot assist but I still have those yellow little triangles lit up on the edge of my mirrors. Did you leave your sensors plugged in?

Mine are still plugged in. Too cold and dirty to try to unplug my sensors. Maybe my sensor didn't fail or something else.

Hmm, yeah I had to do some picking with a tiny flat head to be able to unplug them, they were bonded together from the dirt..
Do you get a notification on your instrument cluster?

It started in the middle of a February when we got freezing raining. My right side triangle was constantly red even though there was no car there. I turned off blind spot assist, first days later I turn it back on, and I get "Blind Spot Malfunction" or "Blind Spot Inoperable". Since then I turned off blind spot and been shoulder checking (first world problems). Once the weather warms up ill pull out my right sensor. Googling around, these sensors don't last long with salty conditions. Usually just replacing them will fix them (look at your pictures, you definitely need to replace them)

Yeah I researched about them a little and I'm certainly not alone. I'm trying to disable them so I don't have to replace them, they're a little steep @300 to 500 a piece.
I guess I'll try connect them and see if they'll stay off, thanks a lot.

I'm not recommending it, but you could pull the fuses? Also I seen them for $300 on eBay.

I'll probably end up picking that one up in the summer. For something that's going last a couple years, its pretty steep.

Pulling fuses might be a solution too actually, thanks!
Yeah I mean if I were to buy them new again I would think about covering them up or something, it's not a 50$ part to just keep replacing every few years..
