grill paint dings
hey Guy,
What color paint do you use to touch up the silver part of the grill on a 2016 E-350 W212 with the AMG package? the ding is on the area behind the chrome edge . Thanks.

wow,
nobody had to detail their grills to repair rock dings in this forum??
Nevermind I found the part I needed. You just replace it altogether. I'll wait til I get more rock ding that drive me crazy and replace it.

Looks like that part is "primed" which indicates not finish painted. If it's a nice, even finish, it might not matter.
The part on my car appears to have a textured (metalflake?) finish. Also, in a semi-gloss finish. Neither one is easy to duplicate. Not sure you could find the right paint color, either, and I'm pretty sure you would not like the finish you get with a typical brush touch-up paint. Using an airbrush would increase your chances.
Also, I want to think this color is the same as that on the wheels behind the chromed surfaces. Not sure how to compare the two side-by-side. (The composite below does NOT use the same light) But if they are the same, you might have better luck finding the wheel paint. Maybe a place that straightens bent rims might know.
(You can tell I don't have any dings, yet.)

yep my wife caught a rock ding on that flat grill part. I tried to polish it out with my 3M finisher and got it down to where it's less visible. I wait til it get bad enough to replace the grill before pay $70 buck for it. The wheels are all good so far.
