Iridium silver=bright silver metallic

Is iridium silver (776) the same as bright silver metallic (775)?

on the build sheet of my 2012 E350 it says the colour is listed as 775 “bright silver metallic”. I just noticed that the touch up paint I bought is 776 “iridium silver”. It doesn’t quite match, but it’s silver so it’s gonna be hard to match anyway.

So is it the same and maybe they updated the number or is it the wrong colour?

They are NOT the same color.

Don't know about 2012, but my 2016 came in either "Diamond Silver Metallic" or "Iridium Silver." (Yes, I know there are grey silvers, too)

I suspect the names change by year, but the actual colors don't. For 2016, Diamond Silver Metallic (988U) is a bluish silver, with a metallic finish. Iridium Silver (i.e. BRIGHT SILVER METALLIC -775U) is a different silver. Both are handsome, but parked side-by-side, they appear vastly different.

I'm starting to think that comments on my car may not apply to yours. Regardless, I would require the exact numerical match for the 2012 color. One digit off doesn't cut it...

x2 - my car is a darker gray, offhand I don't remember the code. But I do remember initially getting touch-up that looked "close", yet when I tried it it was way off. So always use the production code on the vehicle to order paint.
