Buying advice for a 2015 E550 4 Matic
This is my introductory post. I thank all the members in advance for their valuable input.
I’m currently in negotiations for a 2015 E 550 4 MATIC that has 36,000 miles on the clock and had a minor accident (collision) back in 2018. The insurance claim amount was US$2,530.
It is reasonably loaded with Premium Package, Exclusive Package, Intelligent Drive Package & AIRMATIC suspension. The car is located at a Mercedes Benz dealer 800 miles away.
The car is in a very good shape except for a small ding on the driver side door & a chip on the passenger side door which the dealer has promised to fix . The car is Star Certified with extended warranty valid till January 2022.
As a part of the safety & mechanical inspection front brake pads/rotors, front wheel bearings & front steering knuckles were replaced.
The asking price is US$31,600.
Do I need to get a pre purchase inspection done in this case, the vehicle being a Start Certified one?
Thank you!

Surprise me that car with recorded accident still can be CPO, but regardless, PPI is always highly advised on 30 grands purchase.
You can try to depend on warranty, but some things might not be enforceable once you close the door.
$2,500 of repair is very small, however, was the safety and mechanical inspection done recently or at the time of the accident? Was the repair on the front, back, side? I can understand that pads/rotors were changed, but front wheel bearings and knuckles at 36k miles is very low miles. Since the dealer did some form of inspection, I would not bother doing another inspection at the same dealer. It may be worth while when you buy the car to do a PPI at a local dealership, since faulty items can be replaced under the warranty.
To the op, you won't regret the e550. Amazing vehicle and closer to the amg than Mercedes would like to admit
