Replacement tail light wiring?

I have purchased a replacement left side tail light for our facelift jap import W212 E350 2014 year model.

These cars have a well known fault with the left rear tail light being glitchy or not working at all due to bad connections on the plugs to leds internally.

I have found as pictured the main conector plug is different on the new part number A21290661303 VS my old jap import light with A2129060703

Has anyone tried rewiring these new ones into the old ones? The old one is 5 wire the new one is 4 wire??

I was just going to cut a splice it in but then realized the wiring is I guess different between the two not just the plug being a different shape?

I purchased these from pelican parts but id rather just somehow splice them in than send them all the way back from New Zealand!

Can anyone provide a wiring diagram so I can figure the wiring out? Im hoping the diffence is only two grounds or something like that for the extra wire....??

I'm not around my shop laptop right now, but hopefully someone can get to a wiring diagram. If not you can pm me your VIN and I can see if my WIS lists your model.
You seem like enough of DIY-inclined that it may be of help to get the WIS/EPC factory manual discs. Less than US$20 on eBay.
May be of future benefit to you as they include full factory wiring and BUS/LIN communication diagrams.

Just in case anyone else runs across this thread and wonders what the difference between the two tail light styles with black vs white connectors is here's the TL;DR:

The white connector ones don't have a proper turn signal, the amber LEDs are missing and so is the wire to power them.

Cars with the white connector flash the brake lights as the turn signal. The black connector ones do have the proper amber turn signal.

Thanks for the heads up.

I'll chime in on this as I'm probably looking into the same issue, on the dash I occasionally get a left indicator error message, Xentry reported a slew of things about voltages being less than certain amounts for the left indicator circuit. With the car stationary I left the indicators on for a while but could not repeat the failure. I looked at the documentation and electrically my left and right assemblies are the same, not sure what that might mean but I was thinking if the failure was easy to repeat I could remove both taillights from the body and electrically connect them in the trunk and see if the fault moved to the right side - I haven't tried that yet.

Then one day I got the message and left the car running and played with the indicators. What I observed was that while the frequency of "blink" in the car increased the actual lights were still blinking at the normal frequency, then I noticed that instead of the center, red bulbs/clear lens operating the upper and lower red lens bulbs were flashing (I can't say if they were at the intensity of a brake or taillight) - weird. Next, I temporarily disconnected the right-side connector (while that indicator was on) and saw the same things - error msg on dash and switch from clear to coloured lens.

Cycling the ignition clears the fault, now I gave the left rear light assembly a good thump while the indicator was on and repeated the error msg. So, at this point I'm pretty sure my left light assembly has an intermittent connection, it might be the wiring, and I'd like to switch the failure to the other side, but I only get the message once every few days.

I'm not sure if the above will help anyone but who knows...
