Big brake upgrade on w212 for cheap

I have a facelift w212 E350 4-matic. I’m contemplating doing a big brake upgrade on this car just because it’s cheap to do, it will look better and of course perform better. My question is will 360mm rotors and 4 pot fixed calipers bolt right on to my W212 from a W218 CLS550 with no major issues?
I understand I will need to saw the heat/dust shield a bit, use different caliper bolts.
Thanks for any help or advise.

Well, I was going to go that route with my 550 to the AMG but decided the cost just outweighed the results for a daily driver. Nothing is as simple as a "bolt-on" with these cars. The engineering that goes into them is really extensive and they have been doing this for a long time weighing cost versus value received and conceived. I could never find where anyone posted complete brake upgrades. Just like you wrote the "dust shield" needs replacing, but how do you know positively all the other components will work or if you can even source them. Hell, I'm just saying maybe the brake anti-skid control block has to be replaced? This may come about after you dump a grand into the project and the front spindle is dangling off the car in the driveway. Anyway, good luck if you decide to do it.

Hey Marcorati
Any update on this now it has been about 3 months? Has the pulsing\shudder from the braking returned or is it still too soon to tell?
Looking for about 4-5K miles before id be convinced its resolved...
Thanks

Since June I've made a trip up the East coast and around Georgia for a total of about 3,500 miles. Changing from the stock MB pads on all four corners to the Porterfield's have made a world of difference. High speed braking no longer gives me the shuttering and at high speed ( 80+) the Porterfields feel like they actually tighten up as they get hotter, in a hard slowdown. Keep in mind we have many 100+ degree days in the south and I've noticed the rear pads are actually contributing more in the stopping process because of light dusting on the rims. As I've stated in the past dust doesn't bother me but there definitely is a lot less dust with the Porterfields. At first spending over 300 bucks for pads seemed crazy but I'll have to say so far so good. In the future, one addition to high speed braking may include a pair of no drilled front rotors.

Só far so good. No pulsating under hard breaking. I’ve been pretty aggressive on them too.

Im sorry, it’s a 2014 E350. I’m going to try it out. My mom has a 2015 CLS 550 and I believe the two cars share more then just a platform. The parts are super cheap for the 550 brake setup regarding calipers, pads and rotors.

Im proud to report the Benz Big Brake Kit for cheap will fit a w212 E350 4Matic and more then likely the RWD variant as well.
I am now driving a 2014 E350 Sport 4Matic with brake calipers from a 2014 CLS550, 14.2” oem rotors from a 2014 E550, and the only thing custom I had to use was aftermarket Army & Navy stainless steel brake lines to the calipers. If you do the install you will find the stock rubber lines are two short. With a little trial by error I found 18” A&N steel brake lines are the best choice for the job and I used a 90 degree angle fitting at the caliper end of the steel brake lines so the lines wouldn’t make contact with any brake suspension or brake components. With enough patience you’ll be able to install and see that this can be done with no downsides what so ever. It’s a tight fit, but nothing will touch or rub if installed properly.

the stock rubber brake lines were too short. So my mechanic and I opted to use A&N stainless steel brake lines sourced from Summit Racing. You will need 90 degree angle fitting at the caliper end of the lines.

My car originally had the basic economy floating style calipers. I was due for a brake job. I found a parted out 2014 RWD CLS 550 4 piston brembo brake calipers on eBay. Made a offer to the seller $200 for both and he accepted. I initially tried to use Brembo branded CLS rotors! They didn’t fit my W212 E-class well, the hat was too short. I then tried 2015 E550 rotors and the rotor hat is slightly taller. I used Brembo low met front brake pads.

Marcorati,
Do you have PN reference for E550 AWD calipers that you mentioned in post#39?
Te ones (used) I am looking at are 20. A463.11 that appear to be from RWD car.
Thank you,
Max

Marcorati,
Thank you for digging this up.
That particular part does not look like the one in your video (good video by the way) and one posted by qmciver in post #36.
Based on what I found MB Part# 2184212298 corresponds to Brembo Part # : 20.A267.12
http://www.adriatique.com/page.php?pd_id=8124
Is it possible that it was mis-labled?
Thank you,
Max

Hi All! I'm glad that I found this thread! Thank you Marcorati! I got my '11 E550-4M in January. The brakes looked good, rotors did not appear to have any notable wear and the pads were pretty thick. The car had been well maintained using all genuine Mercedes parts. But the brake issue was there from the start! I figured the rotors were warped. I was a little surprised because the rotors and pads did not look to be very old.
Anyway, I'm getting ready to upgrade the calipers, rotors and pads like what Marcoreti did. I've got calipers from a '13 CLS550 AWD. I am looking at https://www.bremboparts.com/america/...isc/09-B769-51 and need to pick out pads. I think this rotor will work with the calipers and my car.
The calipers are Brembo, but do not have any MB part number (see photos). The one's I got are not from a '13-'14 E550, but should work, as far as I can tell.
I am trying to get some activity generated to help me as I take the next steps. Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.
From '13 CLS550 AWD
Not an MB part number.
Need to be cleaned up.
Clearly for use with 360mm x 36mm rotor.
Not sure what to make of this.
Came with calipers.

If you can get the VIN along with year and model for the car your calipers were sourced from, you will easily be able to find pads in the future.

The rotors on your link are correct. Caliper look correct as well. Both the E-class and CLS class shared the same brake components. The key is to make sure you are using RWD calipers on a RWD car and 4Matic Calipers on a 4Matic car, which sounds like you did. Looks like the only thing left for you to decide is if you want to keep the Semi-metalic pads or go to a ceramic brake pad (Brembo carries both options). Also, there is an upgrade for the rotors if you want to go to 2-piece rotors from performance package C63AMG. Below is a link but I'm sure you can get it from several sellers:
