Replacement Engine for 2010 Mercedes W212 E220 (OM651.924) advice
Hi all,
I've unfortunately received bad news from my mechanic about my engine. It looks like it's spun a bearing at the crank and is toast.
I'm looking for a replacement engine and have a few questions.
My engine model is OM651.924. Is it possible to replace this engine with a Sprinter engine?
If so, what needs to be changed?
If anyone has any other suggestions or knows where I can get a complete replacement engine with low miles please let me know.
Thanks

Sorry to hear that! If you don't get any answers here, head over to the Sprinter forums and see if they know. I'm willing to bet those folks have a great idea of where they can source engines from (your car, perhaps).

What's the mileage? Those engines don't just blow bearings.
Coming to taking engine from Sprinter model - short block might fit, but in different vehicles the engines have different piping and motor mounts, so that will take some checking.
You must be in UK, since those engines did not make it to America till 2014? I know they have whole book of variations with different HP and different emission equipment, so lot of things to consider.
Make sure you save all the modules and sensors from old engine to put on new one, or you might face nightmare with SCN coding. At least that is what MBUSA does.
