E class S212 android auto options
E class S212 android auto options
Hi.
Been reading alot online about installing Android auto, but finding very conflicting info. Please help.
I'm looking to buy a used s212 2016 (build 201603) euro model with audio 20 navigation capable ntg5.
Can't seem to find a solution for activating Android auto for this model. All though I see some of the ones for sale state that they have android auto with this specs. Asked my dealer and they said it's not possible to activate.
Please help guys!
Regards
Andy

I activated Android Auto & Apple CarPlay in my 2016 S212 (E-Class wagon). See my post #138 which includes "How to" and photos in this thread "Android Auto in 2016 W212": https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...16-w212-6.html
So I didn't confuse folks on this forum, I labeled my post as "2016 W212 Apple CarPlay success!" instead of the more correct "2016 S212 Apple CarPlay success!" because my activation experience is applicable to both W212 and S212 owners. I am an iPhone user so I focused on Apple CarPlay even though Android Auto is also enabled.

Vlad told me it's not going to work on my car since I have audio 20 navigation capable ntg5.
What one do you have? Ntg5.5?

As a quick overview, you can either replace the OEM LCD screen with a self-contained, and much larger, Android device that mimics the look of "tablet style" MB screens on newer models or add a small computer inside the dash that will enable Android Auto/CarPlay using the existing OEM screen and controls.
FWIW, I wrote up a DIY for a wireless CarPlay installation using the JoyeAuto box, but it apparently also does Android Auto via USB connection.

If you provided Vladimir with your VIN and he says his OBDII won't work then I think you are out of luck.
As a general comment to others based on your post and another in the original thread I cited, I suggest when contacting Vladimir to keep you message short and to the point as English is not his first language, i.e. "Will this work with my 2016 E-Class VIN WDDHHXXXXXXXXXXXX ?" He may have said not possible even though the vehicle may have met the requirements because of the perceived tone/length of the email.
