W212 DEPO Headlight question

Hello!

Has anyone installed the facelift headlights from DEPO in their facelift W212 Mercedes?

Here is the link to the headlights.

I called USR (unique style racing) and they said that these come with standard Halogen bulbs, and are NOT LED. Can someone please confirm if I can upgrade these to an LED bulb for high and low beam? And will I get any error codes if I put in LEDs? I do not want to buy these if I cannot upgrade them to LED bulbs as that defeats the purpose.

I tried getting an answer from Unique Style Racing and the guy I spoke to didn't even seem to know what a bulb was - let alone if I can upgrade them from Halo's to LED's. All he told me was that "i'll void my warranty if I decided to put in LED's."

Thanks in advance!

It's a weird option. All the 2014+ came with LED headlights in the US. Those headlamps look like the ones with active curve illumination which the standards ones didn't have. Active curve illumination also came with auto high beams.

I wouldn't spend that kind of money on headlights. It's usually cheaper with Mercedes to buy the car with the options you want than to try to do any retrofit. For that reason, it's very hard to find people who have actually done many retrofits.

From my understanding these DEPO headlights are just for show and have an actual housing for the bulbs unlike the OEM ones. The DEPO ones don't have active curve and don't have high beam assist. They're literally just for show and have the housing. I just need to know if I switch them over to LED bulbs (from Amazon or somewhere) will they give me a code

There's a few people here on the forum that installed those, check this thread out.

Quick update, since it's been a while that I posted this.

Currently I'm at a standstill with the project for various reasons, mainly being that anyone who has knowledge of this is extremely slow to respond/follow up and with the current COVID-10 stay-at-home orders, no one will even look at it for now.

The main issues I currently have is that I found out the wiring harness is incorrect. Apparently it is wired for RHD. Basic functions work, but I have error codes. I could not get the company to provide me the wiring schematic. Also, the harness is wired for only the front height sensor and apparently, the rear height sensor is also needed to work properly. I already sourced the wiring to the rear sensor and currently I am waiting for the pandemic to blow over so I can install the rear sensor and try to get someone to rewire the harness for me.

Stay tuned.
