2016 E350 4matic Sport - 90 day post mortem

First, I'd like to express my gratitude to this community for providing your 1st hand accounts. Collectively, this forum gave me the confidence to purchase a '16 E350 4matic sport CPO (29k miles) in May. To provide more color, I traded in my '09 Infiniti G37x (330hp/269 torque) and through tough negotiations, landed at a deal I felt comfortable with (rim and tire insurance as well).

1. Upon receipt of the vehicle, noticed the Auto start stop was not functioning. By the time I got around to setting up an appointment (1 week later), my rear brakes were screaming! At first, service passed me back to sales then sales passed me back to service to address the brakes. Enough was enough, I told Service to quit putting me in the middle of your internal profit metrics and put the customer first (they obliged). Result: New rear rotors and brake pads. Auto start was a result of the Midtronics on the main battery, new main battery.

2. Two months later, driver side seat cushion ripped at the seams (MB Tex) and panoramic roof squeals at initiation (not all the way through). Dealer fixed both, but was taken aback that the seat was not covered under the CPO warranty (but would have under original warranty). They replaced the seat cover as a one time goodwill.

3. Twelve hours after I took the car back from point 2, noticed that my pristine rims was actually curbed on the rear driver side. Called my SA and asked them to 1) confirm there was no damage going in (they take pics before they accept the vehicle) and 2) if dealer will not accept liability, make sure drivers are aware of this incident to ensure others are not affected. SA called me back and said they would fix.

I am cautiously optimistic that my car will perform as it should for at least 5-7 years.

Next: All mods under consideration will be done after CPO warranty expires (May 2020).

1. I do not have full LED and am considering an aftermarket similar (without the functionality). Any recos?

2. My biggest regret is the lack of power. Yea, I knew this going in and did not want to consider a 550 due to how rare it was to find, even rarer without Airmatic. With that said, I am considering an ECU, full exhaust and intakes. I am not looking for sound, only performance. Anyone have any suggestions on brands to look at?

Thanks all for the pre- and post-purchase support!

Well in the US the last year for the E550 was 2014 so of course the 2016 would be newer. There was an E400 as an alternative. You should look into getting a couple extra years out of the CPO warranty, you can get two more years from vendors mentioned in the extended warranty subforum. I'm not sure there are many mods worth doing on an E350. I'm at the point where it's hard enough just keeping up with regular maintenance like springs struts/shocks, ball joints, control arms, CV joints etc.
