Would make very nice mini vacations if you drive it.
Shipping the cars is 1 of most riskiest businesses in the World, so be prepared to take it.

Never had a problem. I disagree with your riskiest businesses. Yeah there are some horror stories as in any moving business but independent review sites show a lot of companies with 98%+ favorable ratings.
As for driving it myself, it's hardly a "mini" vacation. The minimum time I'd need driving 600 miles a day is 4 days and 3 nights which would be a real grind of 8+ hours of driving + meal stops, and fatigue would have to factor into the risk equation. Double that to 8 days if you want to make it a true vacation and stop to see points of interest along the way.

Off course that brings personal limitations to play.
I've been buying diesel MB on East cost and bringing them to San Francisco area for over 20 years.
Being Polish and having friends in Chicago, I always stop there to go to Blues Bars and then buy 200 lb of Polish sausage for 1/3 price that it cost in California.
Add few cases of beer and the booze+ sausage carrying profit paid for fuel and accommodation.
Never had a problem to make it from Chicago in 2 days (usually with big hangover) and Las Vegas is 500 miles closer than SF.
Just a tough that you might also enjoy such trip.
