W212.005
Transmission Oil for 2012 E 200

Hello,

I have a 2012 Diesel Automatic, E 200 , W212.005 , VIN: WDD2120051A601068
I want to do the transmission oil change, but i am not sure if i should buy 236.14 or 236.15.
I phoned to a official MB local dealer/part supplier , I gave them the VIN , and they could not tell on the spot, they called me back about 10 minutes later, telling me that they asked Mercedes, and i should use 236.14 oil .
If i use an online VIN decoder, it states that the car has A89 REDUCED-FRICTION / A98 TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE RETROFIT / B03 DIRECT START / ECO START/STOP FUNCTION.
A89 REDUCED-FRICTION should go with 236.15 , blue oil , from what i researched online.

Any suggestions ?

Study https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevol...rt1.html#close and bookmark it. Oil technology changes on monthly bases those days, so good idea to check for updates at each service.
Beware that dealers often sell old stock, or what they can buy at bulk, not what is latest recommendation.

My understanding is that cars after 2010 use the thinner stuff, .15 blue.

My '11 used the red fluid, FWIW. Always best to check what your specific car uses.
