Ok, I'm extremely confused I just bought a 2016 E400 Sport with premium package, and the VIN says that it came with remote start, but Mercedes-Me techs are telling me that remote start isn't an option on the vehicle and can't be added to the app... Does anyone have some clearer info?

This is listed on the VIN breakdown:
J8A DSM STAR1 FBS4 REMOTE STARTABLE

She also said that the entertainment plan doesn't come with options like iheartradio and weather apps, but both of those do work...

I've also been told that the car is not startable remotely. Me confused, too.

 

I can only guess that STAR in the code means MB can start your car via satellite in case you lose the key?

 

OK, well thats more of an explanation than they could give me over the phone. Both reps were confused and surprised that it didn't have it

I actually got this notification while I was on your website. I'm just not familiar with how the app on the phone links to the vehicle if there isn't Mercedes-Me service on the vehicle.

 

Don't expect too much from USA technicians.
Back in 1998 I raise the hell, that my new ML320 was governed to 115 mph, what it was reaching on 3rd gear having 4th and 5th "to spare".
Dealer's people had no clue at all, while MB hotline gave me BS that this is tire rating limited. ML come with HR tires good till 130 mph and when I finally ask what could I do in case I would take MB to country who has no speed limits, the hotline send me to aftermarket tuners.

 

@GPJames I also bought a 2016 E400 a few months ago and have the same question. The Mbrace people and the dealer told me that built-in remote start was not yet an option for 2015 built 2016 models. It still doesn't explain what that option on the datacard actually is.

 

The Mercedes Me app would not link to our starter solution. Smartphone control is available, however, by using Drone Mobile. It's super reliable, and you'll be happy with your purchase, either with or without the smartphone control capability.
