Heated Seats - semi work on drivers side - work great on passenger - BUT not drivers

Hi all

Hoping someone might have some insight into this or could look to see if there is a TSB for this issue....

So my first visit to the MB dealer - I complained about no heat from the drivers seat (back works well)...they said Oh that's because you have ventilated seats and the spacing for the venting part makes them not as warm...
(I did tell them about this TSB - but kind of got a yeah has nothing to do with it -LI91.30-P-054637 – lump under seat cushion cover)

Ok - set the clock forward a couple of months i',m in the passenger seat and was Ummmm this is hot! - Yup drivers do not work.

So i took it to another Indy shop did checking and said its not the heating element - and that there is a TSB that indicates a rear SAM needs to be reprogrammed - because its detecting an overload....
I looked all over and its not this TSB below (for the poking out of the connection)

LI91.30-P-054637 – 212 with seat heater (873) up to VIN A703331 lump under seat cushion cover, install modified heat mat.

Has anyone else heard or know or can look up this TSB for me? (Indy wants to charge $200 for just a reprogram? OUCH)

What also seems odd to me is why would the back warm up but not the butt part (sorry did not know what else to call it).

Thanks in advance! hoping to get a warm seat as cold is coming in!

Damn, mine does the same thing but I thought it was due to the two small holes punched in the middle. I figured someone had sat down with some keys on their belt and poked their way through the cover and then through the heating element. My seats have the holes for ventilation, but no ventilation, FWIW.

Well you know the seat pad heating element also goes out. That's also pretty common in addition to the ripped seat with MB tex. Good thing the E550 has real leather. The heating pad has a separate plug so that's why the back has heat but not the seat. Of course you have to take the seat cushion cover off in order to get at the plug/pad underneath.

If within VIN range request goodwill replacement arguing for modified part because defective neat pad was installed at production.

Thanks Konigstiger - as I mentioned in the original post - I did ask them and they basically laughed in my face...like you want us to do free work when there is nothing wrong...

Any how - I'm still trying to see if anyone knows where I could search for this allusive TSB on needing to have a SAM reporgrammed or updated? - I have the dealership looking - but its been 5 days and they have not yet responded to me...

Anyone know how hard is it to tear apart the seat to get to the heating element - is it best done by the dealer or even consider having an upholster look?

Thanks
