It is the same torque regardless of brand you install.

The question is: will the NGK index correctly?

OP has an '11 which has the M272. I thought only the M276's plugs needed to be indexed?

Some of the M272s have DI, particularly the 3.5L. Don't M-B DI engines require indexing of the spark plugs?

Ah yeah the CGI uses direct injection. I believe all DI engines should have their spark plugs indexed, yes. The non-DI engines don't require it though, right?

I don't know. I'm actually a little surprised that the M276 DEH engines require indexing, but many here say that it does. Logically, if the charge is homogeneous, then the mixture should be ignitable whichever way the plug's gap faces. I can see where it makes a huge difference in the DES engines because only in the vicinity of the spark plug, and probably mostly on the side nearest the injector, is lambda 1, stoichiometric. Elsewhere in the combustion chamber, the mixture is leaner, perhaps too lean to ignite or lean enough to ignite, and burn at a too hot temperature. Lean is a funny thing...

I need to order the factory manuals and read them. I've read the FSMs cover-to-cover for all of the other cars I've owned, as well as the boats and PWCs.

I do not have DI. I have no do engine. So 23 nm okay with ngk.
