Works fine, and the price was much less than dealer, but I'm much happier now with an aftermarket component that enables Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the existing screen. No need to update maps anymore.

I am interested, but how new are the maps? 2015 probably came with 2013 maps. Do we know if the update is new enough to matter? Having Android auto does me no good, because I live out of a 4G coverage area. Actual GPS is a better option.

Not sure how good the upgrade is but it is v19 and I currently have v17. Moreover I can select North America and skip all the other areas which are useless to me. Would like a little more feedback before I pull the trigger on this option. I do have issues with paying the MB dealer $245 plus 2 hrs of labor to install an upgrade.

US doesn't build that many new roads and even California grows more than average - in last 20 years they added 2 bypass freeways.
1 in Bay Area and 1 in Pasadena.
Updates will help you finding new streets, but I don't have a problem to check the address on google on my computer.
Google maps will also give you live traffic and at several alternatives, so knowing you can figure out the best for you.
My MB navi was giving me only choice to drive around the city, only becouse that was more freeway route, when I could save 20 minutes going on street shortcut.
Even my Ford 2017 navi I used yesterday was giving me 20 miles loop that was 50/50 highway to freeway, when going straight on highway did save me 30% of the distance.
There is no way driving few miles on freeway will catch up with 30% less distance on highway.

FWIW, Sirius XM also has a data only option with live traffic that works with the Comand map. It was a fraction of the cost of their music subscription and I used that until going over to the maps available via CarPlay.

I should have been more specific. I had a live traffic (only) service from Sirius XM that automatically displayed on the Comand map
