Car starts but won't shift from park
So today my car started but wouldn't shift from park. No check engine light or any notifications were on. Although a few days ago when it was cold I did get an auxiliary battery warning go off but it went away. Anyway tow truck driver showed up and held either the gas pedal or brake down for 10 seconds and started the car and was able to shift into drive and reverse. Anyone heard of this bypass or fix before?
edit: my brake lights worked too so I don't think it was a break sensor or something like that as I read in other posts that could have been the culprit.

Similar issue posted by someone else recently. That aux battery is probably the culprit. Even if it's not fully drained and alerting it can be causing issues.
