2014 e350 warranty and reliability

Hello, I am interested in a 2014 e350 with around 55k miles. In general how are the reliability with these cars, ie how much would one expect to pay per year for maintenance/repairs?

I may purchase this from an MB dealer, however it cannot be CPO’d and they are selling a third party warranty - what experiences have people had with third party warranties?

thanks

2012 E350 sedan
First, I'd find out why it is not a CPO. If it is because of age, OK. Any other reason, keep looking.
I have a 2012 which was the first MY of that generation which I bought in 2015 with 10K on the ticker and it now has 70K. I have had zero repairs.
Regarding routine maintenance, I get all my work done at the dealer using coupons they send me or I see on this forum.
A dealer oil change is about $120. I like getting this done at the dealer because they give it a thorough inspection for free to let me know about anything else that needs attention. Then I have the option of checking an indy shop for a better price. Indy shops around here are about 20% less.
Cabin and engine air filters from the dealer are about $55 each plus installation. I get the parts from Rock Auto for about $15 each and DIY every 2 years. I think the recommended interval on the engine air filter is 4 years.
Spark plugs changed every 60K which is a PIA. I normally do this myself on my cars but did not attempt it on this car. Do a search for DIY instructions in this forum if you are so inclined. It's about $600 at a dealer but I had a $130 off coupon.
Routine tranny fluid/filter service is required at 70K miles and is about $500 before coupons or discounts. I got 20% off.
The dealer charges a fortune for alignment. I get mine done at a local tire store for $90 which I've had done once.
The only unusual thing for me is the rear tires wear out at about 15K miles irrespective of brank, alignment, etc. Front tires last forever.
I would not bother with a warranty.
If you still want to buy the car, see if they will change the plugs and/or include the tranny service for free.

2014 E350 4M Diamond Silver
I have 2014 E350 4Matic. purchased under warranty 2017 April at 43k miles. Currently at 84k miles.

I purchased 3-pack PPM for 1650USD which covers 80k, 90k, 100k service.
Advantage with getting it done at the dealer is - they give loaner vehicle and does free multi-point inspection.

Some dealers allow to get your own parts.

If you're buying the car, make sure they do the 60k mile maintenance before taking delivery.
--------------
Issues I had with my car:
1. Both front struts were shot - ELW (extended limited warranty) didn't cover them and I paid for labor and they worked with MB USA to get the part covered as good will. I paid for alignment at that time.
Less than 2 years, they both were shot again. This time, they covered everything and doing the alignment as well.
2. at 47k miles, under OEM warranty, they replaced K-1 clutch pack due to jerkiness in shifting at gear 2 and 3. They rebuild the tranny and replaced the ATF. My next is due around 110k miles or so.
The issue came back for 2,3,4,5 gears but the readings are under specs with MB and they can't do anything as of now. My ELW expires this June 2020 and if the issue is still there and it becomes worse, all I could do is get into another brand and run far away from MB and other German brands (but still feel happy that I owned one in my past).
3. 360 cameras go blank sometimes - replaced rear camera unit, COMAND head unit (the stereo system) and the 360 camera module. All covered under ELW.
4. Faded burl walnut wood trim, couldn't do anything about it.
5. Replaced Aux battery from Autozone - had to replace it twice under warranty. - DIY battery is around $110
6. Original Main battery is out last year and just paid for it and got it replaced. Paid around 340$ including labor and dealer is doing it. To my knowledge others won't touch your main battery.

Upgrades I spent:
1. from leather to wood trim steering wheel.
2. ugly 17" luxury wheels to C43 18" wheels.
Both of which are a good add-on to my vehicle.

That's just my experience - I'm the 3rd owner. I have Lightning package, which is a head turner till date. I'm lucky to own such a beautiful car.

I'm light on gas, but I don't baby the vehicle either:

for mpg ratings since I owned this vehicle.

Thanks guys, I suspected that the price was a little too good to be true, once certification came up the price skyrocketed

I have a 2014 E350 4Matic with a little over 120k miles on it. Car runs very strong. I wouldn’t bother with CPO warranty either on 55k mile V6 W212. Just have pre-purchase inspection done before you buy it. If something breaks you can and easily should be able to source the parts from a online retailer or ebay seller. the ‘14 MY seem to be overall well sorted. Stay on top of all your fluids change intervals and you should be fine. Try to find a reputable Indy mechanic.

2012 E350
Have a 2010 E350 and 2012 E350 in household and can say they've both actually been more reliable than our 2003 honda accord was at the same 10 year mark. Both cars around 75k miles and accord was at 70k when we got rid of. Very reliable generation but get a PPI as others were saying since you don't know what the old owner did.
