2014 E550-sold 😩
Yes, that message is usually caused by a non authentic Apple charge cord. If you buy cords at any source other than directly from Apple you may encounter this message. Ebay, Amazon, etc beware. The authentic Apple cords are chipped.

Yet the cord I am using has been in use for at least 2 years and likely longer.

Borrow a cord from a friend and try it.

1922 Ford Model T / no OBD
Do you know what programmer smoke when he develop this program?
When I have no idea what the message can mean, I am getting similar when I plug my phone for charging into my Ford Truck.
The truck wants to communicate with my phone and displays the message when it fails.
I simply press OK and keep on driving.
