High mileage e250 cdi
Hi guys, I’m new here and I am looking to buy a used high mileage 2011 e250 cdi. It’s done like 250k kilometres (so about 160k miles) and it’s got I think FMBSH from one owner but I think
the dealer selling has done like an air filter change. They’re charging about $9000 (in USD) for the car.
my question is therefore, is this too good to be true? What should I look out for? Any other advice is welcomed
*The car is in Australia but I gave the price in usd because it might be easier for many.

Giving American pricing for Australian car is not going to help you I guess?
So talking about the car, 1/4 mil km is not high mileage, although at 10 years the car might have some aged parts.
I would run smoothest test, sending oil sample to lab would be good idea and do normal PPI.
The only weaker point on those engines I know about is single row timing chain. Since OM651 engines come to America in 2014, I have limited knowledge about earlier models sold in different countries.
Still in Sprinter vans, I run into engine with 640k miles, still "running strong"

Hey thanks for the comments, you are right about pricing as I am in Australia. Just in your opinion do you think the deal is too good to be true? It’s like one of the cheapest w212 I’ve seen and there is no visual damage, and when I drove it it was not as noisy of a diesel as another one that I drove and I will be sure to check on the chain as well. It has been serviced roughly once a year for 9 years so Every 25000 km. I’m not sure if that falls under manufacture recommendation? Is that enough servicing?

Heck, unless we take interstate vacations, I am filling up our 250 bluetec 4 times a year as 700 miles tank range is our 3 months driving.
Bluetecs in USA have even worse publicity than old diesels.
That is not only result of VW cheating, but DPF replacement at stealer is $5000 maintenance bill. DEF heater failure generate about $2000, so once they get out of warranty, not too many takers. Take hobbyist like me to deal with them
That said, have DPF and DEF system carefully inspected before buying. Lot of sellers will try to cover up failures.
