My car was mostly reliable. The only repair I had to make was a new compressor last year. That cost about 1800 at the dealer. Otherwise it was normal wear items and maintenance. I did notice that I was starting to feel more engine vibrations coming through and figured I would be due for new motor mounts in the near future. I'll be retiring in a couple of years so having a car that won't break the bank with potentially expensive repairs seemed like the right thing to do. But I will miss her...

Have fun with Avalon. My stepmom drives about 10 yo old model and beside couple of sensors it is reliable car. Only complain is the noise.
I would have been just as happy if she had stayed with the Avalon, but she wanted to make the change and I learned a while ago, to let her do what she wants.

I rented an Avalon for a couple of weeks for work. I had the choice of anything in the Hertz rental lot and it was by far the nicest car. Like you say the financial downside relative to the Mercedes will be nil. How many miles were on yours when you traded it in?
