Good Old Benz Quality.
Yesterday I was at junkyard and came across a 1974 Benz, 230; no C or E designation. I was very impressed with condition of its seats, not one tear or crack. I decided to take some pictures just to bemoan how that old quality is no longer the case, what gives?

Compared to the '04 Volvo I had last, the seats in my car are holding up magnificently. I do like how nice the MBTex holds up cosmetically.
I remember seeing an older 70s or 80s Mercedes in the local pick-n-pull and my girlfriend and I were admiring how well everything on the car had held up and how solid it still felt. I can see why people hold onto them for as long as they do.

1922 Ford Model T / no OBD
We had Volvo with 17 yo fabric seats still in good shape, beside dirt when we junked it.
Didn't you Al used to own W123?
I can only cry for selling my 1985 300 tdt for $3k as today could pocket $6 easy.
But have no illusion, the seats on the pictures spend most of their life in garage.
Now hearing lot of complains about seats from W212 owners, where did the quality took wrong turn?

Thanks for the pictures. My first car was a 1969 220D. I owned it in 1982. Interior looked just like this one only black.
The dashboard look and layout seems almost contemporary. Amazing how timeless it is.
