W212 E200 CGI
Hello, recently i have been looking at one particular W212 with the 271 engine. For the last couple of months i have been reading about the 271 engine and i am still not completely sure if it's worth it or i should walk away. I know that the older models had a problem with the timing chain, what else is there to worry about (lambdas ?), is the turbo reliable / tough ? The car i am looking is currenly @ 65k miles, year is 2011, with your average service history. It is in manual (preference), should i worry about the gearbox too or is it just your average manual. Talked with the guy and he said that the car hasnt had any issues, been in the dealership just for regular maintenance. Just want to mention that i am not interested in V6 or V8 engines at all. This is meant to be a daily commuter for the most part.

From what I can tell a lot of the people active on this board are from US or Canada.
271 is 1.8 or 1.6 supercharged engine. I do not think it was offered in US. Manual transmission was not available in US E-class either. So do not expect a loot of feedback from this side of the pond.
I hope someone from Europe will see your question and chime in.
I am not 100% sure, but I think 1.8 supercharged engine was offered in C-class in early 2000's and manual transmission was available a special order. Which means there will be not that many of them. My be worth checking C-class section?
