you can, but it requires surgery and I believe you lose the brightness adjust-ability, but I'm not positive. There are some write-ups on it here. The search button is your friend...
I found this thread for a CLS. But I want to know if it would work for a 2012 E63 with only one color ambient light. The tread refences kerdiliang (search his Facebook page) and I have also found a vendor in China referenced on these forums, https://www.incarpassion.com/mercede...ambient-light/. It seems that they might be the same.
I would love to see a detailed install on a similar car like mine and the before and after. Also I was not able to tell whether the OBD softward component would change our car's menu so that once programmed, the ambient light could be changed in the car settings without the OBD plugged in.
Ambient wasn't working and turned out his car was coded for the wrong color (blue), which was not supported by the hardware for that particular vehicle.

Yes the '12 and '13 have one color, the '14 had a couple and that increased as the '15 and '16 models rolled out. same with improvements in parktronic.
My 2016 has three options - Polar (blue), Solar (orange), and Neutral (white).
I run the Solar option - the "ugly orange" as the person said. The reason is for consistency. The lights behind the door handles and some in the center console are always orange regardless. So choosing orange makes everything match.

'10 and '11 would be included as well with one color, no? At least are '11s have it.
I mean, it's definitely possible however you're looking at a lot of work and a lot of money. Personally, I hate ambient lighting and prefer to sit in the dark
I'd call the 'solar' a warm white, maybe 2500k, not 'orange' or 'amber' the three colors on my 2016 are effectively cool white, neutral white, and warm white.

Yes, I keep mine on 3 I believe, enough to say their lit, but not enough to cause a reflection in the windows. I was in a '19 and I believe the guy had his set on red if I remember correctly, very silly.
The yellow looks out of place in my grey car with black interior especially because I have the LED package which means some of my interior lighting and exterior lighting is LED, but it looks fine in my blue car with tan interior.

Which one of us is colorblind? I mean.. could be me. It’s definitely an orange to my eyes.
Edit - now that I'm looking at it in photos, I see what you're saying about a 2500K warm white. But in my car, in person, it looks distinctly orange-ish.
I can't believe there are people who hate ambient lighting. I love it, as long as it is tastefully done as it is in the W212 and Macan. The new W213 is over the top.

Yes, it looks acceptable in orange in tan interior, looks silly in black interior.

I spent a few days test driving one with a black interior and I thought that one looked best on the neutral white. But it still bugged me that the other lights didn't change color - near the cupholders, above the COMAND knob, behind the door handles.

Same for my 2012 CLS63......I admit being jealous of the 64 colors haha! I'd like to have green I usually leave it on blue though. The S class I had; 7 colors! The kids loved that too

Yes, all the interior lighting in my '12 is incandescent, except for the LED dash and doors, so it all matches, my '13 with the LED package has some white and some yellow for example the rear overhead lights are white LED's and the front overhead lights are incandescent yellow.

Can you change colors in the 12? For my 16 you can - but little pieces of always-on lights stay the same "orangey" white no matter what. Just the strips on the doors and along the dash change color so it is a clash.
Otherwise, from what I can tell - the dome lights are incandescent, as are the rear door puddle lights. It appears the mirror map lights are LED. The front door puddle lights are OE Mercedes logo projectors so those are LED.
I really want LED puddle lights on the mirrors but haven't wanted to mess with trying to install them.

No, the '12 and '13 have one color for the led's on the doors and dash, my '12 has yellow everywhere, puddle lights and license plate, parking lights, my '13 is a mix apparently, even though it has the "LED lighting package" both have the same taillights. neither of my cars have the Mercedes logo puddle lights.

I use "Solar" as well, which by LB's picture, means Sun Yellow. Shining on my tan interior, it appears orangish. I think Polar and Neutral are too bright.
I find the ambient lighting both attractive, and distracting. Haven't grown up with such lighting. I thought my grandkids would find it cool. But they hardly notice, or haven't said anything.
I REALLY DO like the Rearview mirror LED that shines on the console. That's very handy!
Ambient lighting is something that we really like. It was optional in the Macan, but ours has it. Nothing on the dash but footwell front/rear and lighting in each of the 4 doors. The Macan also has LED interior lighting which is a nice touch as it is very well done. I would not retrofit the E350 to have LED lighting inside for the dome lights or anything. Too harsh.
We both find the lighting to be comforting at night and not at all distracting, though we keep it at level 5.

I had these put in on both doors, really cheap part too, 10 bux or something! And was easy for the shop i use to install
They go on the bottom of the door

Yes I was noticing that last night on the ride home as well, it is pretty nice. I haven't figured out if my mirror puddle lights are led or not, they seem yellow, not white,
