Grill Molding

Good after to all. New to the forum.

I have a 2016 e350 with the amg sport package. some how the chrome trim (left side) was damaged. I have a new part, but can't figure out how to replace it. If anyone has experience, can you please help?
Should there already be thread on this, please let know. I did look, but did not find a related thread. Thanks in advance. Hope all are safe...

Sorry folks. Not grill trim, but bottom bumper trim.

Carefully un-clip at attachment points using plastic wedge.

Thanks Konigstiger. My piece is a little longer, maybe by 3 ", and looks as if it might attach by a bolt/screw. I will try to get a pic.

It is the chrome piece just below #8. There is a under carriage piece that runs the full length of the bottom preventing me from access to the chrome part. Again, thanks for waling me through.

Lower chrome trim for AMG styling is split into three sections (208 & 209 in diagram) each section is removed by using wedge to manipulate bumper to release trim clips (as shown in post 3 above). If this diagram does not resemble your bumper post VIN.

That looks great. I will look under the front and see if I can locate the wedges to be released.

The diagram looks perfect. #209 is correct. However I can't find a way to access that piece. Would I need to remove the bumper cover? Looking at it from below doesn't seem to help. I do appreciate the diagram.

As Konigstiger said you need to use a plastic wedge tool to force it out like you would any type of trim piece. There are no bolts.

No, you do not need to remove any parts to remove that chrome trim piece. In fact, someone can easily steal that piece from your car if they wanted to.

I once parked over a high parking block/brick. When I reversed out of the parking stall, by bumper caught the parking block/brick. I heard a lot sound coming from the front end, I thought I ripped my bumper off the front end. Anyway, I got out and discovered the chrome part #209 popped off and flew 3 feet away. Upon close inspection, nothing was broken off and it I discovered that the chrome part was only held in place by the tabs. It does slide into the middle section chrome, maybe an inch or so, before you can pop it back into the tabs. To remove, you manipulate the tabs to release/pop off the “eyes” of the chrome piece and you slide it away from the center piece.
On my car, due to the parking incident, the plastic underbody/splash shield that has the tabs were bent and a bit deformed, so my bumper is very slightly out of shape and so now my chrome piece is a little loose lol

Sorry to hear about your car. I have done the same without damage (so far) wish I had a front end camera. It seems I will have to go on top and the bottom to release those tabs. Thanks again to both posts by Konigstiger, KEY08, and 95sinned420

More help please. Is the idea to lift the bumper up/down so the molding can detach from the tabs then be slipped out? The bottom seems a bit easier than the top. Don't want to screw anything up. Should I just muscle it? TY
