Engine wash - W212

For everyone who is afraid of doing an engine wash, I can tell you it is no problem at all.
I did an engine wash today for the first time on my 10 year old E 200 CDI.

I washed it at home in the garden, I just washed carefully the engine with water, then used a sponge with auto-schampoo and then washed it one more time with water.
After, I made it dry with a towel.

It took about 45 min and I am pleased with the result.

Here are some pictures:

Spray some 303 on those plastic covers.
I don't baby the job.
Takes about 3 minutes twice a year to make the engine restaurant clean, so you can eat from it.

I put my 2015 on my lift, and clean both the top and the underside with a pressure washer that is so strong that it will put a dent in a brick. Of course I hold it a couple of feet away. These cars aren't fragile.

Spray the whole engine bay? Won't it damage the battery?

Besides trying to impress the oil change mechanic, just wondering why would you want to spray water, much less a high pressure water sprayer onto the engine?

My wife never looked under the hood, & I've seen it 4 times in the last 5 years just to wipe off surface dirt, maybe a 2 minute job.

Decades ago, one detailed the engine bay because there was a lot of genuine chrome in there, along with fancy labels touting engine size, etc... you know, something to look at.

Today, black plastic (and the occasional chromed plastic) embellishing tiny engines does nothing for me, and I chuckle for others who think it does.

Yes, takes me 2 minutes to wipe down those large plastic covers.
Used spend another minute to Armor-All them, but now why bother...?
