2012 e300 4matic - Steering Wheel Malfunction
First time poster here, so I took the car in for regular spring service and my local shop changed outer tie-rods
My problem now is after they changed it and switched out the tyres, I had no PS
after scanning it, C159300 code comes up , steering torque sensor
My question now is is the whole steering rack one unit with the sensor ? is this a dealer only part ?
is this part vin coded ?
also how did this happen ? the shop said they banged on the tie rod end to remove it , not knowing it was an electric steering ? does this make any sense ? is the system that sensitive?
is it maybe a wrong outer tie rod end part causing this ? or the banging that broke it ?
I used the search function and couldnt come up with anything on the forum or via google
any input on the situation will be appreciated

Yeah, there is no question. You should take the car(or have it towed) to a dealer and have them diagnose the issue. More than likely shop that did tie rod end repair damaged something. If they did, they should be held responsible. Any reputable shop will take care of this, but I wouldn't let them do the repairs. You need to have an unbiased 3rd party(MB Dealership) diagnose the issue.
