If the voltage drops too low and you accidently left the key in the ignition - you might loose rolling codes and need new key as the result.
Same with putting high-amp chargers on. Some of them can go > 15V and your car is not going to like it.
I have bunch of Harbor Freight maintainers on my toys. They are for $10 regural price, but I used to buy them for $5.
Still on my truck, who sits for winter months, I pull battery clamps for safety, but as side result - with battery disconnected your FSS stops counting, so you will not have to change your fresh oil only becouse time out.

I recon this woke up the car at least, got it to operating temps, and conditioned the battery enough to last another week or so. Not to mention getting some sunshine to burn the cobwebs out of my otherwise sequestered mind.

I now plan to do this driving procedure periodically (every week to 10 days). I'll wear a surgery mask on my face the whole time if I have to...
