2013 E550 coupe
E550 or not?
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum,
I'm thinking about getting a 2013 E550 coupe... are they good cars?? reliable too??
I know nothing about mercedes... but I want to give it a shot cause they are way to fun to drive.
Just looking to see if they have common issues... engine and/or transmission problems... or any other expensive failures...
also, does anyone know about the renntech chip?
the car has about 100k km on it (about 60k miles) looks good and everything..

Read up around here on the bi-turbo engine. They are very reliable, however certain years have had their quirks and you will find them all by searching and reading. If you buy a Mercedes and don’t DIY they can be pricey to maintain properly. Make sure the car you are looking at has been properly maintained and please maintain it when you get it. These cars will reward you for years if you simply treat them well.

I guess the price for the car is very tempting?
But low MB reselling prices are for the reason. Owners who bought car new, don't mind to spend $500-1000 for service, especially when you can drive a year between.
But once warranty is out, bigger scope service comes at higher price - they dump the car for a new one.
Good deal for DIY people like most members here, but when you buy used MB, you better know what you are doing.

2013 is a great year for the M278 as most, if not all, of the issues with the engine had been fixed. The E550 is a great car, power, room, style...hard to go wrong with one of these that has good service history.
Renntech tune is good, but no better than anyone else's really. I have a custom Eurocharged tune on my car with a few extra tricks and mine runs mid 11's. Granted, that it not typical, but with a stock car on a tune, you should see 1/4 mile times in the mid/high 12's, low\mid 12's with exhaust, very low 12's/high 11's with catless exhaust. Do your research and post any specific questions here, there are lots of helpful and knowledgeable people.
