Upgrade Sound on 2014 W212 E250 with base audio
Question 1. Is the speaker wiring harness in place for the base audio car, such that buying a set of HK speakers would just plug in. The car has navigation and DVD changer and the audio is shown as package 512. The speaker grills do not say HK.
Question 2. Has anyone else bought a set of used HK speakers on eBay and just did the speaker update - no amp or head unit change. Is that worth it? I read that the lack of power is a big problem with just replacing the speakers. There are sets from w211 (cheaper) and from w212 available on ebay.
Question 3. A slim powered sub-woofer after market could be fitted under the parcel shelf in the trunk. This would add some base and power. Has anyone tried this? Any recommendations? How do you get power to it, and at the same time avoid a power drain by having power that switches off. I would like to wire to the fuse box in the trunk. Has anyone wired up a power sub to the trunk fuse-box?
I was thinking that the best bang would be to just do the front two doors, and add a slim powered subwoofer to the rear deck, so the whole sound upgrade will be completed in stealth mode, leaving the car unchanged as much as possible.
What do you think of my plans?
Thanks
Ronan
