2012 W212 engine coolant
I went thru the maintenance manual that came with the E350 and nowhere does it indicate that the coolant should be replaced. The car I bought has 87K miles on it and I checked the coolant level. Its fine but the color of the antifreeze sure has reduced from the bright green. Is there a recommendation on when the collant should be drained and replaced with new?

Starting about 2005 MB puts chem packs in cooling systems and they extend coolant life to 15 years or 150k miles.
(frankly I see no sense to make coolant life mileage-related)
When you change the coolant, you should change the chem pack as well, what is integral part of reservoir.

Where did they hide the chem-pack ? Mine has no chem-pack.
I thought chem-pack is when you get the older rectangular coolant reservoir and not the new round-oval one.
Thanks

The 1st cars who left factory with chem pack are just coming to the age that require replacement, so not much experience.
Few members who had emergency repair reported that aftermarket reservoirs are coming without chem pack in them. The pack is hardly visible, but can be recognized in MB reservoir.
