Hell no!
His dealership overcharges you as a customer and the SA shares a portion of those profits. He is more than well paid to find every little thing that is wrong, and some things that are not wrong, and quote you at least twice what a Ford dealer would charge to fix it.
Generally speaking, I understand any issue with my car better than any SA, because I research things here. If anything, I often teach my SA how he can learn accurate information on these forums so that he knows how other dealers are solving problems that he can't seem to solve.

I have tipped my SA - when they were able to get things covers under my extended service contract that were questionable...or not supposed to be covered but somehow got them approved...
But not often that happens...

Why? did he bring you food?
I mean mine does nothing other then take my keys and fill out a form...
I like him, nice guy and I would have a beer with him and talk football but no reason to tip...

I'm not in the habit of tipping someone making six figures and not being able to figure out what's wrong with my car and telling me constantly "Mercedes won't pay for that" When he does say "I got that covered for you" what he means is it was always covered and he wants you to be impressed he extended that courtesy to you.

If you don't want to tip, great! I don't disagree, but I can assure you they are very unlikely to be making six figures. I have employed hundreds of them and have yet to have one make that number.

I was more ironic, than funny.
I grew up in highly corrupted system. Having small bussines, I was carrying boxes of chocolates to government offices to "motivate" nice lady to positive decision. Amazing how bouquet of flowers could shorten decision waiting time from 2 weeks to 2 minutes. Had something major to apply for? Bottle of cognac in manager office had it running in no time.
Coming to USA I was given impression that corruption in USA is non-existent, yet I am meeting it everywhere.
Sure at some level it is called "political donation".
Still - we are getting corrupted. End of the story.

Yeah, and every one of them makes six figures. Right? I had multiple also and they didn't. Difference being I signed the checks...not just a friend. But, whatever makes you feel good!

I know a commissioned SA for a mass market brand who makes well over 100k. Varies a lot by dealership...

I did have an SA quote me a 2 hour job on a PPI, I was walking around about an hour 15 afterwards and saw that my car was done. He took off a half hour of labor on the job. But if I hadn't walked around, probably would have charged me the full 2 hours. Made me wish I had taken a walk a little bit earlier.
I've had mechanics tell me they quote out an 8 hour job, they get finished 2 hours later and they just park the car out back and tell the customer it's done 8 hours later so they don't complaints about the labor hours.

Why the hell would I tip them? I've yet to interact with one who wasn't completely clueless.. and I've had a lot of cars with a lot of different brands.
