Option Code 275 - Memory Package with Power Steering

2016 E400 wagon, Canadian car with this particular option on the build sheet. This feature allows up to three positions of the power seats, outside mirrors and steering wheel to be stored into memory and recalled from 3 buttons on the driver door. This function seems to be working on my car, when the memory buttons are pressed. My question is: are the smart keys supposed to be linked to these settings?
For example, my memory setting is programmed as # 1, my wife's as # 2. We have two smart keys, one I use regularly and the other she uses regularly. If she has been driving, then gets out and lock the doors, the memory settings are left in her position # 2. Then I unlock the car using my key, I think the car should recognize the different smart key, associate that key with memory position # 1, and begin adjusting the seat, mirrors and steering wheel to memory # 1 even before I get into the car,.
However, my car does not work that way. Either key unlocks the car and does not change the seat settings. It is necessary to press and hold the memory button until the seat, etc. adjusts to the new position.
The Mercedes dealer says everything is working as it was designed, and the smart keys are not programmed to the memory settings.

Unlike 211, no memory key dependence.

Thanks for the quick reply, and I know you know the correct information Konigstiger!

I'm surprised by this lack of functionality. Do you know whether the newer 213 is the same as the 212 in this detail?

213 also no key dependency however, 2016 easy entry/exit features only steering wheel whereas 2019 > restores combined wheel & seat.

Yes it was one of the found disappointments for me in the 212's, I had a W220 and a W221 that went to the seat setting of each key, I miss it because my wife and I share her car and I only drive mine occasionally.glad to hear it will be back in my next car '20-or '21
I will be skipping over the 213 entirely. don't much care for the 4 cylinder.
