2016 dash fading...

2016 dash fading...
Just wanted to report that the dark wood dash on my 2016 is fading. Just noticed it this week. In fact it almost seems to have happened overnight. I've used the car 3 of the last 4 weeks for week long business trips, last 2 weeks in a row. I did not notice it last week or even at the beginning of this week. Totally obvious - wood grain is washing out. Actually kind of surprising too. Wish it had done this while it was still under the new car warranty... :|

Thank you for reporting this. There was a lingering question as to whether this had been solved in 2016. Now we know that all burl walnut W212's will suffer from it.

Oh there was never any question about the burl walnut W212s.. those suffered the entire model run. But I believe OP has the glossy dark ash wood? That I have never known to fade.

Interesting, I have yet to experience any fading and I have the burl walnut in both cars, maybe it's my milage or usage, maybe it's I park in a garage at home and work, maybe it's I wax the wood with Meguires Ultimate once a year, I don't know if it has UV protection or not. {In the wax}

Been busy travelling for work, and car is at the dealer for stuff over the weekend (including faded wood). Waiting to hear back from my SA about everything... Will post pictures when I get it back. It's fading on both front door trims and the front part of the trim where the sun is getting in from the front door windows. It happened almost overnight - I swear one week it was fine and the next week I looked over and said 'WOW'.

My dealer gives me a Benz loaner most every time I go, doesn't show up on the bill as a line item, warranty or not, but I'm sure it's imbedded somewhere. On occasion I get a Volvo when their out of C's , they sell both brands, family owned dealer.

Also, Loaners are provided by the dealer. It is a perk paid for by the dealer and has nothing to do with MBUSA or warranty work and should never be on your bill. They purchase the cars, put several thousand miles on them as "loaners" then sell them as "program cars" or auction them off.

I have never heard of black wood trim fading at all. It's weird given that car is a W212 FL , not an earlier model which might have some puerile problems that needs to be addressed in later models

Agree on the black wood. It shows up on the burl wood in W222 's so it wasn't addressed by 2014.

I really would like to see pictures. At this point I am unsure what kind of wood trim we are discussing (black wood, black ash, dark wood, etc). I wouldn't be surprised to see that we're discussing the known Burl Walnut issue.
