Question Paddle Shifters

Is there a way to keep the transmission in a selected gear with the paddles? For example, trans is in S not E. I used the paddles to shift up from 1 to 2 to 3. Then when I ease off the accelerator the trans just shifts into full auto. and jumps to 5. How can I keep it in the last gear that I selected ? Same thing happens when I go down from 3 to 2 to 1. The trans will then just go into auto and not hold the M setting.

You have an automatic transmission. The paddles let you play with the gears, but the automatic part will take over if it thinks the revs are out of acceptable range. This protects a VERY expensive transmission.

You can only do this in AMG cars or others that have an “M” mode.

I for one, like this feature. More than once I had forgotten I was in 1 and took off like a bat out of China.
These aren't true paddle cars so no real disappointment there....just a little added fun when needed.
