The issue was the main battery

Hi MBWorld,

just wanted to leave feedback and KUDOS to KEY08!!!!

I got a great deal on a new VARTA AGM G14 battery.

The issue did not happen anymore and the mileage improved since the high voltage battery is not charging the main battery constantly as before.
This is information that every owner of a hybrid mercedes should be aware of: Even if your car seems to be running fine, check if your main battery isn't being charged to >14.5V all the time, if so, the high voltage battery is being drained to keep voltage on the main battery..

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but you can use hidden function as described on the video:

Thanks gain!

Very good! No need to complicate the situation unless the simplest solution does not work. Glad you are back in business!

Hi again!

A few days after my last post DTR+ started failing again frequently until it stoped working. I even tried the another battery, replaced the auxiliar battery, no improvement. From January to April it worked properly no more than 5 times.
In May I bought Xentry with Vediamo and the Tactrix Openport adaptor. With that I could see the module's error: Module Malfuntion -.-
It was an active error, meaning I could not clear that one.
Furtonately Xentry has a troubleshooting guide:
-check voltages - OK
---reflash module - Reflashed with later FW version, didn't fix it, same behavior
------replace module - Was already looking for used modules, but decided to try to open it and fix it

I found a video online for a repair on the exact same module (different FW)
When I opened it was expecting to see a lot of oxidation, but no, it was as clean as new:

But taking a closer look, there was the culprit! A bent pin:

The only thing I had to do was carefully straighten the pin. I reassembled it and connected it to the car without closing the box.
The Module Malfunction error was no longer active. I cleared the errors and moved to the actual values section on Xentry: it was detecting obstacles again!
So I glued the module, applied an automotive silicone sealer and the car has been running like a dream for more than a month.

I believe the cause was a factory assembly error. I bought the car in August 2020 and DTR+ was throwing errors frequently ever since. Looking back at the issue I would say that trepidation was the trigger for funtion\malfunction.

Hope this helps someone out there!!

BTW, the module's location is behind front grill.

Wow, you are quite the super sleuth! That was amazing and I concur, it was probably an assembly error. Thanks for the update!
