dealer disconnected audio in w212
I have a 2011 w212 wagon with no audio coming from the command unit. The previous owner supposedly opened the door one day and an alarm like sound was howling so they took it to the shop in a rush to get it stopped, there the dealership did something to the sound system and told her to come back so they could repair what needed to be repaired. However the owner didn't mind not having audio so they never went back, now I have the car and I first assumed that they just took out a fuse but I checked for missing fuses and didn't have much luck. The car starts like normal with the warning beeps working, the command unit also turns on no problem with all the features except when I go to adjust the volume it doesn't show up on the display. oddly enough the surround sound feature is also missing from the sound options but i'm not sure if that has any correlation. Any info would be great, driving a quiet car gets old after a while.

Can you take it back to the dealer that "disconnected" the audio? At minimum, they should have a service report noting what they did. That might get you on track.

Wow, how stupid is that? Just when I think I’ve heard them all....

Depending if you have NTG 4.0 or NTG 4.5, (Check on Google) Just lazy to explain the difference. 2011 had a mid year refresh with a new command unit system that is present from the second half of 2011? to 2015
But if it is the NTG 4.5 unit, it could be the matter of enabling the external amplifier via engineering menu, as this can be knocked back to internal amplifier when playing around with the engineering menu.
Only other thing I can think of is that this is fuse for the amp or sound system.
It is also possible someone with Xentry/DAS can resolve the issue as it can be software related. I doubt the dealer would randomly pull fuses. Just my opinion.
