ECU tune questions

ECU tune questions
Hello, I'm looking for someone with experience on tuning the ECU map via the MyGenius type device. I have two questions:
1) does the tune map vary from vehicle to vehicle? I have a E550 and a GL550 both with the M278 engine.
2) is the tune file purchased from various tuning shops restricted by VIN or anything?
Basically since they both have the same engine, I'm hoping for kind of a 2 for 1 deal.
I purchased the E550 at 65K miles, and the dyno number seem too good to be true, possibly it was already tuned? I bought it off a Porsche dealer, and it also had a Passport radar detector installed on it. Seems like possibly someone that may tune a car, but I have no way to validate. Maybe it's just the weight and size of the GL, but the E just has way more punch to it. Possibly they are tuned differently by vehicle type from factory, so that may lead me to believe aftermarket map modification could be vehicle specific.
Also, can I backup the current map file before dropping the tune file?

tune is only good for the vehicle(VIN) it was purchased for. The GL probably weighs almost 1,000lbs more than the E as well. What do you run in the 1/4 mile in the E550? I can tell you if you're tuned by that...unfortunately dyno numbers are no good as they are not consistant.

My 1/4 was consistent with Car and Driver initial testing in 2012, I ran 12.8 sec 1/4 when I got the car around 65-70K miles on it. Dyno showed 396 4WHP and some ungodly number of torque in the upper 400 range to the wheels.

W212 E300 AMG Sport
I had my 212 tuned in August 2019 from a company called Laborde Motorsport (https://labordemotorsport.com/). They're a tuning company based in Perth, Western Australia. Like Renttech and Kleeman, they can remote tune your ECU without messing up the internal systems of your car. It was because of them that I learned so many fascinating things about my car such as having the AMG sport package on your 212 will give you the same Bosch MED17.7.3 unit as the C63 and ML63 AMG of that period. Since my car sported a de-tuned M276 engine of the equivalent E350 in the US I needed someone to unlock the restraints if you will and give it the necessary performance upgrade without tampering the very fabric of the car. The result was very good, I got my extra 30BHP from the dyno and 20Nm of torque. I'm also running on the same 95RON octane as recommended by the manufacturer (I Use TOTAL) and throttle response on sport mode is amazing! I highly recommend this company.
