And as you said earlier you change oil at 5000 miles please keep doing that (or your lucky son). It is the lowest cost insurance for the engine. You have the Mityvac so teach him to use it and the engine will run forever...

My son is 30 now. he currently has a BMW 530iX wagon, a f550 diesel 4x4 utility truck he's converting to an expedition camper, I think he's sold his 1996 Chevy 3500 desel 4x4 ambulance camper, he has a late 1980s M925A1 5 ton 6x6 based burning man art truck, and he's got a pile of dual sport motorcycles including a KTM 1290 Super Adventure R.... all that he's bought himself. while getting a PhD in Geology and doing significant field research. at least two of his ex-GFs were still driving my old Volvo wagons the last I heard, hah hah.

The other half of our old cars I'd given him came back, got used some more and then ended up scrap or flipped. I haven't had to help him with a ride since he was in his early 20s, but at one point he had our 260E sedan, and at other points various old high mileage Volvos (240, 850, 940) we kept for too long.

This is his F550 camper project in-progress. its all box section MIG welded 6061-t6 frame, with 11ga alum skin, insulation, and the camper is all electric (massive solar, 400AH of LiFePO4 batteries), except the diesel furnace.
its still not on its final super-singles and lift kit, that comes after its built, and he can weigh it and choose a target GVWR for the wheels. goal is minimal lift, and not much over 37" tires, but that will require staying 5000 lbs under the chassis cab's original 19000 lb GVWR rating.

and work-in-progress interior, with a cedar roof and LED lighting

I have a few observations - things that are really apparent in this video:

1) This is good parenting.
2) Someone loved that E350 and took great care of it for its first decade on the road
3) Someone is going to continue to love and take great care of it.

Well done, indeed.

Thank you sir!!! Yes it was well taken care of. The pics I saw online before i looked at it did it no justice. When we saw it in person I was like OMG!!! Its flawless. The only issue was the rear blind didn't work and we had them look at it. Fixed in 5min shop guy said whoever owned before didn't use the blind and he tugged on it a little and it started working. Been working fine so far. He said just keep working it, it should be ok. You all are gonna laugh at me I was thinking the rear seat head rest were broken cause they wouldn't fold down. So I asked my sons about it last night had they tried to work them. They said dad that's only for the w211s the w212s go down and they are in the down position already. I said oh!! Well they just taught me something new lol!!

He's already washed and vacuumed again and said dad we need to clay, polish and seal it I ran my fingers across it I can feel it. I was thinking to myself I taught him well!!! Not sure who the previous owner was but it was well taken care of. The back seat seems like it never has been sit in. No rips or tears anywhere front or back. I don't see an oil change sticker anywhere so I asked him lastnight after work when was the next service do according to reminder he said 333 days. Acoording to car fax it was changed last at the Mercedes dealer at 95,000. It now has 104,000 and I'm not sure if the Bmw dealer I got it from changed it so I was thinking I may just go ahead and change it within the week. Oil on dipstick not clear like a fresh oil change but does seem to be recently changed. Color of oil is more brown than black. I ordered an oil change kit from Fcp with filter and got it in yesterday.

When we first got our identical car {'13 so almost} my wife said "The headrests are broken" because her last two cars they laid down flat when you pushed the dash button, these only go down to the lowest position electrically which is different than the old air activated headrests she had in her last two Benz's. Even after having this car for eight years, we still love it and I'm sure your son will to... The dog loves it too, he sits by it when he wants to go for a ride!

Amazing story
I just got my 2012 e350 in January and ive been in love with it every step of the way so far. You will not regret this car for your son and the mods for this car just make it even better. I hope you have lots of fun with is and if you got the model without airmatic you will be happier in the long run in my opinion. Regular suspension is just a lot easier to work with rather than the air suspension. But anyways congrats on the new car and all the best.

Not sure where you're all getting these intake manifold and whatever issues for m272? In case you don't realize, 10-12 is *late* m272, and don't have these issues. It's very reliable.
