Car shaking violently
So my wife went to work this morning in the e class. When she started the car after leaving work, she noticed the car shake violently with the check engine icon popping up around the same time. She drove off but the shaking didn’t stop, so I told her to turn the car off for a while then start it back. When she did that, the vibration went away but the check engine light stayed on. Any ideas as to what might cause such vibration from the engine? I’ll take the car to the workshop first thing in the morning but I’d like to have an idea of the issue before dropping it off.

Was it cold out? Happened to me on a cold after work start. Pulled to the side of the road called the dealer. The SA told me to turn it off and restart it. Smoothed right up. She said that if the system detects a misfire on a cylinder it will shut off the injector.
It happened once since then. I replaced the plugs. It is scary when it happens but I don't think that it is a big deal.

Reminds me of my wife (god bless her in heaven).
She had an old Acura Integra, and her brakes caught on fire. She drove it like that until she got home (she was my girlfriend at the time).

This sounds like my wife. When we were dating she told me how she used to drive her bosses 911 so one day in front of the house I say ok drive my A4 manual. Her (now our) house is on a grade. When the clutch smoke cleared, I looked at her and said, "That wasn't good.". She went into the house crying and her kids asked her what I had done to her.

So I just came back from the workshop. After checking the error code, it turns out there was an issue with the coil in cylinder #3, the mechanic changed the coil and the car seems fine now, drives properly with no warning lights. All in all, it was a 15-minute, $135 job.

Glad it was an easy fix.
A long time ago, my sister bought her first vehicle - a Toyota Tacoma 4WD 5-speed. She'd never driven a manual before. After watching her struggle for a couple of days, I offered to teach her how to drive it. I drove it off, parked it on the steepest hill I could find with no traffic on it, and sat there (and coached her) until she drove it off the hill.
About a week later her boyfriend "helped" me change the clutch. Easy fix for her having no issues shifting a manual transmission ever again.
