servicing panoramic roof

Hi everyone,

I decided I want to service the panoramic roof on my '11 e550. It doesn't creak or make unusual sounds and works perfectly but some of the plastics look a little discolored and it could probably use some lubrication. are there any instructions as to what I should do? Thanks for any help!

Certainly, see attachment. You can use Plastilube as a cost effective alternative to MB products.

I see there are 2 different kinds of lubricants, would plastilube be just as effective?

IMHO yes, your call. BTW, do not use WD40.

Is this the correct plastilube to use?

The factory stuff is a Krytox formulation best I can tell... ECS Tuning sells the grease in small jars for a fraction of the tub. The other is a liquid version of some Krytox formulation for the rubber seals, commonly used for the pano and soft tops.

Krytox is pretty awesome grease, but $$$.

Free shipping if over $49 otherwise if you don't have enough to buy, you can get it on eBay for a few dollars more. I believe the half ounce you get is about 14 grams but the MB container is 500 grams so you get 35 times more for 7x the price. The 1/2 ounce will last a while though, used it a few times and still have plenty left.

I plugged in the part numbers from the service manual konigstiger posted and the "special sliding compound" directed me to this: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...nt/0009893660/

I'm a little confused as it says it's a convertible top sealer, am I better off just buying this and the sunroof lubricant?
