First time poster, long time lurker
looking at purchasing a sparingly used 2014 E400 Coupe (were talking <65000 miles)
with a beautiful aragonite silver colour.
However, I noticed that the LEDs on the lights (both sides) feel a bit yellowish instead of cool white.
Are the lights dying and the whole unit needs to be replaced or is there an easy way to fix this?
I don't see that often on here, but it does look like this is age related. Any shop will tell you that it is impossible to replace any part of that headlight and the entire unit will need to be replaced. I would not buy the car unless the place agreed to replace the lights as they are quite expensive.
Have someone pull codes using MB diagnostics but before doing so you can proactively check gaskets & connections (including pin outs) to both headlamp control units. Need VIN if you want part #s.
I've seen this before, I think on a W212 FB group. I thought it was simply age-related to the LEDs. They still work, but color deterioration. There is a very, very slight color difference between my headlight that was replaced after the deer incident and the one that is original. I would say it is not noticeable, but if you stare in just the right ambient lighting..
If these can be corrected with new control modules that would be a relief.
