Car in question is a 2010 E550. I wanted to confirm that the leak was the strut and not in the lines or the solenoid block. The photo shows the adapter used to isolate the strut, it would work equally well with the rear springs. I couldn't find a 4mm tube to female connection so went with the female to female coupling and an additional male. Looking at the pictures you can see the valve was inserted immediately before the questionable strut, with the valve open I let the car level itself and then closed the valve overnight. The car still dropped as it had before so I concluded the strut was bad. I did not drive, and would not recommend driving, the car with the adapter installed.
