request best options to remove brake dust from painted calipers. bright red is now dark red and thinking may have to repaint. thanks

Start mild and work your way up... so car wash soap/shampoo up to acidic wheel cleaner.
Before jumping to an acid, I’d try APC or a wheel cleaner with high pH.
Add in agitation, brushing, heat and/or pressure washing.

Also I thought the solution would be to go with ceramic brake pads like Akebono. No more brake dust. Love mine, never clean the wheels anymore.

traditional brake cleaner was strong enough to strip paint, and eat plastic, but the new low volatility stuff isn't nearly as potent.
