My 2013 E350 4matic exhaust break on the rear part close to junction with middle part. Is it something I can weld with aluminum weld and propane torch?
Mine did that on the E550... I cut what was left of the flange (not much) and four slits (axially, equally spaced). Since the pipes slip into each other a bit, I expanded the forward pipe a couple mm and threw a clamp on it. If you could MIG/TIG the flange, it might hold up. Brazing, maybe... can't hurt to try. Mine was pretty corroded... so it wasn't worth trying.
Yes, a tool like that. Just make sure the pipes slip into each other enough for a clamp to secure them. Also remove the graphite seal (on forward pipe) and check for cracking under it, as mine was cracked there as well and needed welding regardless.
Another option is to cut off flange, buy a flange adapter like this and weld on:
Thank you. I think I would either expand it 5mm the edge after cut it because it corroded which caused the defect. Or maybe I will put clamp so the original clamp can hand to new clamp.
What is the exhaust material? Is it aluminum or stainless steel?
