Help Me Identify These Parts Found After Dealership Work

I recently completed the emissions modification on my 2015 E250 BT. Immediately after the modification the dealer also replaced a faulty exhaust temperature sensor in the turbocharger under the new emissions modification drivetrain warranty. The car drives great with little to no noticeable difference in engine response, about the same fuel economy, and better transmission programming.

When I was washing and waxing the car yesterday morning I noticed these two parts sitting in the windshield cowl by where the wipers live on the passenger side. I've attached an image and would be very grateful if anybody can identify the parts. Naturally I'm rather concerned that they belong installed somewhere on the car and were neglected during the dealership's work. Thanks very much for any help!

I intend to! I was hoping to have a little more information first though. Often dealers will dismiss concerns "that's not important" etc. And knowing that the part or issue in question is indeed important can be valuable in the conversation and getting a proper resolution.

well, the part on the left is a 'nut', and the part on the right is a 'clip'. what that specific nut and clip came off of is anyones guess.

I don’t recognize either, specifically… but the nut reminds me of exhaust hardware (locking, copper coated).

2014 E550-sold 😩
When you speak to them, ask if they could leave some Snap-on tools in that cowl at your next service. I would toss these items in the trash.

The nut is from the engine. Likely in contact with or near oil or exhaust.

The clip could be from the engine cover. Is the engine cover loose? Thoroughly inspect every piece of plastic in the engine bay and check it for looseness, which may indicate a clip is missing.
