Apple Carplay in W212 - Audio Ground Wire?
I recently purchased an apple car play box from eBay for approx $250 usd. I installed it and it works GREAT! EXCEPT for the audio. There is no audio. The seller tells me to connect the ground wire from the device to the radio ground. Now, I don't know which one that is in my 2014 E550. I connected the wire to a bare piece of metal in the car and that did not help.
Can someone point out which cable is the ground wire in the command unit, or confirm that that could be the issue (ground not connected therefore no audio).
Thank you in advance.

Hi Marcin. I installed a Roadtop Carplay unit in the same vehicle just two weeks ago. There was a ground wire on the large new wiring harness (the one that plugs into the head unit) that I had to connect to the ground wire coming on a small harness that plugs into the carplay unit. Also, there were loudness settings (one each for music, voice, alert) that could be accessed on screen that are native to the carplay unit (Home button); perhaps these are all at lowest setting.
Best of luck. Still debating whether to keep my unit as there is more inherent "buzz" due to the AUX connector than when going through bluetooth.

Thank you for the info. I'm actually going to return the unit I have. The connecting the ground wires didn't help there is still no audio even at the loudest settings.
