Switchover valve?

Hey guys,

I decided to run a health report on the E class today just out of curiosity, andone of the codes that popped up is this “electrical fault or open circuit” for the switchover valve actuation. Does anyone know what this could be or have any experience with this code?

I do not have any lights on the dash, and the car seems to be running normal. I do want to try to figure this one out though. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I believe that’s the vacuum solenoid on the front of the intake manifold… part of that whole mess of actuators, linkages and lines.

If the solenoid was bad, it should prevent the tumble flaps from actuating correctly. That would set its own separate code.

Look for wire/harness chaffing, whether it’s plugged into the solenoid, check for corrosion in the contacts.

If all good, clear and drive. See if it comes back.

thanks for the response. So I did clear and it came back immediately. Do you have a picture showing which solenoid you are talking about? Im going to take a look this evening for any damage or a loose connector. For some reason, google doesnt know anything about this code haha

On second look, you have a 2014... so totally different engine, I apologize. What your looking for is, Y77/2 or Y77/3.

Did you solve this issue? I have exactly the same problem on my 2014 E350. Runs fine and no check engine light. Is it a leave well enough alone situation?
