On my 10-hour drive from Dallas to St.Louis, I started playing around with the Navigation screen. I wonder if I discovered an Easter Egg in the process.
My old MIO GPS unit displayed Elevation (in ft) above sea level. I found this useful on this commute, because the elevation varied between 550 ft (in Dallas) to over 1,300 ft in SW Missouri, then back down to 600 ft in St.Louis. It explains the variation in the cumulative fuel mileage on my trip.
Anyway, in playing with the Nav settings, I found this data option circled. Sweet.
Has anyone else found this useful change in display? Also, does anyone know what the “8” value is (lower right). It varies while driving.
According to the Comand Manual, this is the number of satellites in use for calculating the GPS coordinates and elevation. I've seen as many as 11 in this count.
At Interstate speeds, I didn't dare look closely at the tiny icon next to the value, but now makes sense. LOL
