Cluster trim issues
Hey guys just switched the cluster trim in my e350 from a plastic one to one with the wood surround, exactly how the e63 is. The cluster surround is oem but for some reason I have trouble putting it back on the cluster. It’s the correct part I checked but either the bottom clips in and it won’t let me clip the top or the top clips and won’t let me clip the bottom. The YouTube video made this seem super easy, any advice?

I did this recently when replacing my trim. A few gotchas:
9. I would remove the trim to the left and the big trim piece to the right of the cluster first before doing this. It's just easier and less risky.
1. YOU MUST unclip the top first when removing and clip the top LAST when installing. It could otherwise break. It is extremely helpful to look at the part to be installed before removing the old one in order to locate where the clips are..
2. There are small plastic pin guides on the sides, I THINK they are there to prevent rattling/warping. . These break/bend easily - one of mine was broken inside a new MB box in new MB wrapping. You don't have broken guides still in the other pieces from when you removed the original trim, right?
3. The metal clips on the trim sometimes don't come off with the trim part. They aren't still in the slots while you are trying to install the new part (and clips), are they?
4. You are installing the new trim with the metal clips installed on the trim already, right?
If you are really stuck I'll see if I can dig out my old faded part and take photos.

Hi thanks for replying. I don’t have any broken tabs or any tabs stuck. The plastic fins aren’t broken or anything. So I’m guessing I should clip the bottom in and then the top? I was able to clip the bottom in but then the top just dosent wanna go into it’s slot
